Glorious Winter! It’s been so nice not having to deal with that dreaded sunshine. I realise how strange this comment is for some people, especially as an AUSTRALIAN for God’s sake. I just really hate being hot! It’s awful, and I’m pretty sure my thoughts on hot weather is WELL documented throughout this blog.
So back to the good stuff. This month I tried some old and new favourites. With all the filming I do each week for my job I seem to live in caked on makeup. I also need to have some kind of fake tan on too as cameras and lighting really washes you out. For this reason I regularly (probably once a week or so) apply some fake tan. I LOVE the ModelCo One Hour Tan Mousse. As the name suggests, it literally develops in an hour which is ridiculously convenient for someone as impatient as I am. It also dries quickly and the scent isn’t too bad either. You don’t have to do that awkward hanging-around-the-house -naked-and-freezing thing that you usually do after applying!
Morning and night I cleanse my face. I need a great foaming cleanser which is reasonably priced and doesn’t run out too quickly since I use so much. At night time I often end up doing a double or even triple cleanse to remove all the makeup from the day. This cannot be done with a pleb cleanser. Non! I received a sample of the Missha Super Aqua Cleansing Foam about a year ago and vowed to purchase. For those of you who don’t know, Missha is a South Korean cosmetics/skincare line. Koreans are the GODS of beauty and I love trying all their different lines which have leaked into Australia in recent years. What I love about this cleanser is how little you need to use. It’s incredible! You add a little water to the foam and it seems to foam out of control! And it really is great at removing everything from your face, especially if you use a little gauze with it.
Because tan can fade quite quickly when you shower as often as I do, I took to using a gradual moisturiser as an extender during the week. I won’t apply it every day, but maybe once or twice during the week to give it some extra life. I found this works well without creating too much buildup and streaking too. Jergens is great because it’s like $7 or something stupid! Seriously, how can you go wrong there?!
I really really love the Bourjois CC cream. And anything Lisa Eldridge advocates must be sensational! It’s possibly my find of the year. I don’t believe the hype surrounding BB and CC creams actually having skin enhancing qualities, however, Bourjois has created the perfect blend of coverage for something heavier than a tinted moisturiser yet lighter than foundation. Amazing!!!! I wear it most days and receive many compliments on the colour and texture of the finish. The only downside for some is the shade limitations.
Being the lip queen that I am, I of course can’t write a post not including something about a lip product!!!! This one I was actually given by a couple of amazing and generous girlfriends with fantastic taste. While everyone is raving about the Kylie Jenner Lip Kit (seriously, I am still so clueless about its endless appeal?! Maybe I’m just too old hehe)I know the real-deal of colour stay is Stila! This lip colour will last you an entire day/night until you scrub it off. I put it on in the morning and it’s still there in the evening when I get home. I have this nude/pink shade that is so versatile but particularly great for everyday wear as it’s so muted and flattering.
Finally, I’m going to tell you about Oxelio Topique. I had Hannah bring some back for me when she was in France as once again you can’t buy it here or even have it delivered. Grrr! I had read how brilliant it is to use beneath sunscreen for added antioxidant protection whilst in the sun which sounded perfect for our climate here. A little goes a long way, so here we are in Winter and I still have some left. Yay! The thing is, it’s also a wonderful moisturiser. It is a tiny bit on the oily side so you only need to use a small amount. I find it really hydrates and plumps your skin. Sounds good to me!
That’s my Winter empties condensed! I love hearing what other girls use on the reg, so hopefully you enjoy my thoughts on this topic too.
