Life Lately

Festive season has ended for another year and as usual I’m aghast at how fast the previous year has flown by. Honestly, it gets me everytime!

Life lately has been a little strange. The festive season was quite exhausting and we didn’t really get any time off from training so it kind of went by in a bit of a blur.

I wasn’t sleeping well and felt over-scheduled. I also had some personal things to deal with. I think I even manged to loose weight as opposed to gaining which is practically criminal for this time of year.

My brother-in-law’s family from Ireland came over to visit us and we had a fantastic time getting to know them and bring in the new year.

The past week has been more relaxed, and as the girls had two road games this weekend past, I actually got to have a little down time of my own to enjoy.

I have until now and late March to work out exactly what I will be doing as a post-university student, which believe me, is easier said that done. The communications/media field is a tricky one and you often have to work for free doing internships and volunteering before you can actually catch a break with paid work. Many employers are reluctant to take on a completely raw candidate so the more experience you have the better. It’s also incredibly handy if you have a network of influential pals…. “It’s not what you know it’s who you know” couldn’t be a more real statement at present.

Social climbing has never been my forte and is 100% a pet peeve of mine, so I will definitely be keeping my dignity with whatever avenue comes my way. I realise some people have the “whatever it takes” mentality (and good on them), but I firmly draw the line at anything completely superficial such as sucking up the asses of jerks.

Yesterday was well spent, tottering around Fremantle markets with my mum and a couple of girlfriends with no constraint. I even walked out with some snakeskin ballet flats and two lovely shirts from Good Sammy. Grand total of $10! (Pictures soon)

So while I’m still unsure what my next movements will be, I feel like I’m open to and happy for anything. If anyone has any grand ideas for me, feel free to throw them my way!

Happy 2016.
